The Victoria and Joaquín Rodrigo Foundation Receives the “International Guitar Excellence Award” from the Alhambra Guitar Foundation

The Victoria and Joaquín Rodrigo Foundation will receive the "International Guitar Excellence Award" from the Alhambra Guitar Foundation on March 15 in a solemn ceremony at the San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid where Joaquín Rodrigo was a member and director during his lifetime. 

The Alhambra Guitar Foundation states that they wish to "...recognize the continuous work of research, documentation and preservation of the artistic legacy and dissemination of the work and figure of Joaquín Rodrigo [by granting] the Victoria and Joaquín Rodrigo Foundation the International Guitar Excellence Award 2023."

During the ceremony, internationally acclaimed guitarist, Alí Arango will perform a selection of guitar works by Joaquín Rodrigo.

The Victoria and Joaquín Rodrigo Foundation's Archive, set up in 1999, is closely linked to the founding of the Victoria and Joaquín Rodrigo Foundation. It contains a vast collection of computerized information, which includes publishing material and all the writings of Joaquin Rodrigo gathered by the composer and his wife over a period of close to 100 years. The Rodrigo home, preserved intact as a museum just as it was during their lifetime, is an integral part of the Archive. In addition to the complete writings of Joaquin Rodrigo, the Archive, a treasured resource for scholars, performers, and music enthusiasts, contains correspondence, press, audiovisual materials, and music.
