Norman Ryan was born in Riverhead, New York. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Brown University and holds a Certificate in Film from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. He previously held positions at the New York City Opera, The Public Theater, as Associate Director of Programming at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, and as Creative Director at G. Schirmer, Inc. In his roles at G. Schirmer and now at Schott Music, he has worked with many of the world's leading composers of contemporary music and opera and collaborated on projects with such distinguished opera companies as The Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Minnesota Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Royal Opera House (Covent Garden), American Opera Projects and Boston Lyric Opera, among many others. He has served as a creative consultant to the Trisha Brown Dance Company, Lincoln Center, and American International Artists and as a contributing writer to Stagebill and Playbill magazines. He serves on the board of directors of OPERA America, Talea Ensemble, Music Publishers Association of the United States (MPA), American Opera Projects (AOP), and on the Media Counsel for New Music USA. Norman Ryan joined Schott Music Corporation and European American Music Distributors Company (EAM) in January 2005.

Caroline Kane was born in Media, Pennsylvania. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Fine Arts from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, and a Master of Music degree in Church Music from Northwestern University, and subsequently worked as an organist and choir director. She began her career in music publishing at The Theodore Presser Company in their sales department. She joined European American Music Distributors Corporation in Paoli, Pennsylvania in 1993 in the copyright department under the direction of Ronald Freed, and has assumed ever-increasing responsibilities within the company through its move to Miami in 1999 and to New York City in 2004.
