Lei Liang's Garden Series Meets J.S. Bach and Two World Premieres

Musicians from Yellow Barn, led by Seth Knopp, perform Lei Liang’s Garden Series for various instrumentations alongside Bach’s The Musical Offering at a residency concert in the Next Stage in Putney, VT on January 9. The performance will be repeated on January 11 on the traveling series, “Music from Yellow Barn,” at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre at Symphony Space in New York City. Music from Yellow Barn then travels to Dallas where the ensemble features Liang’s Garden Eight for solo piano on the “Soundings: New Music at the Nasher” series at the Nasher Sculpture Center on January 13.

Described as “...electrifyingly out of this world,” the acclaimed ZOFO Piano Duet (Eva-Maria Zimmermann and Keisuke Nakagoshi) presents the world premiere of Lei Liang’s Will you come to my dream? at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music on January 27 as part of this dynamic duo’s groundbreaking commissioning project ZOFOMOMA.

On January 30, The San Diego Art Institute, in partnership with the Art of Élan, presents ‘The Ecology of Sound: A Collective Exploration of 'The Language of Things.’ The musical compositions of the Art of Élan’s fourth year of Young Artists in Harmony students will be premiered publicly alongside works by alumni Diego Rodriguez and Deejay Rich, as well as the world premiere of Lei Liang’s Petal by Petal, Leaf by Leaf, written for flute, viola and harp.
