World Premiere of <em>Music for string quartet</em> by Jay Schwartz

The Asasello Quartett presents the world premiere of Jay Schwartz’s Music for string quartet at the Arnold Schönberg Center in Vienna on May 17.  Comprised of violinists Rostislav Kozhevnikov and Barbara Streil, violist Justyna Sliwa, and cellist Teemu Myöhänen, the Asasello Quartet was founded in 2000 by students in Walter Levin’s chamber music class at the Basel Conservatory. The Quartett has in recent years made a name for themselves as outstanding interpreters of both the Classical/Romantic and modern classical repertoire. The founding four completed their formal studies with the Alban Berg Quartett and David Smeyers at the Cologne Hochschule für Musik und Tanz. Music for string quartet was written especially for this intrepid ensemble.
