The Charleston Symphony Orchestra Performs "Music from the Italian Cinema"

On February 22, The Charleston Symphony Orchestra will perform "La Dolce Vita: Music of Italian Cinema" in partnership with the Nuovo Cinema Italiano Film Festival (NCIFF) at the Charleston Music Hall. The program, led by CSO Pops conductor Yuriy Bekker, features a selection of music from such Italian film score masterpieces as Ennio Morricone’s Cinema Paradiso, The Mission, and Once Upon a Time in the West, Nino Rota’s La Dolce Vita, Amarcordand Otto e Mezzo, and Luis Bacalov’s Il Postino, while a montage of excerpts from the films, edited by Mario Crocetta, is screened above the stage. This special concert is a benefit for NCIFF and includes an auction, cocktail reception, and of course, plenty of music. Maestro Bekker notes, “This music is charming, playful, at times nostalgic, but always beautiful.”
