Seattle Symphony Releases New Disc of George Perle's Orchestral Works

The Seattle Symphony, under the direction of Ludovic Morlot, has released the premiere recordings of several orchestral works by George Perle (1965-1987) including Dance Fantasy, Sinfonietta No. 1, and A Short Symphony. The new disc "George Perle: Orchestral Music (1965-1987)" is available from Bridge Records here.

The recipient of a Pulitzer Prize, a MacArthur Foundation fellowship, and an array of other major awards and honors, George Perle occupies a commanding position among American composers of our time. Perle’s music is widely performed in this country and abroad and his compositions have figured on the programs of Boston, Chicago and Philadelphia orchestras, the New York Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic, BBC, and other major orchestras in the US and abroad. Perle's works have been recorded on Nonesuch, Harmonia Mundi, New World, Albany, CRI, and Bridge, among other labels. He was a frequent Visiting Composer at the Tanglewood Music Festival and Composer-in-Residence with the San Francisco Symphony.
