World Premiere of Diego Marcelo Collatti's Vidas de Gardel
Sep. 01, 2018
On September 8, the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi led by Giuseppe Grazioli and featuring tenor Fabio Armiliato performed the world premiere of Diego Marcelo Collatti's Vidas de Gardel. The work is comprised of Collatti's arrangements of a selection of Carlos Gardel's tangos with original interludes by Collatti himself. Collatti discusses his intentions in arranging Carlos Gardel's music:
"With this cycle of songs by Carlos Gardel I wanted to travel to those islands of his tangos, fly over the original terrain, sometimes land and visit an island, then take off again and continue; contemplating them from different perspectives, enjoying a state in which I am able to dedicate myself to these tangos with respect to the original ideas but at the same time challenging and discussing with an open and investigative mind."
